Brett Haber-Unveiled

When Brett Haber accused this reporter of trying to get him fired from the PBR broadcasts back in March of 2004 at The Tuff Hedeman Championship Challenge due to comments in my columns I decided to check out the braggart's  past. Meanwhile he had in fact written to my editor and CEO trying to really get me fired as he called my negative comments about his use of archaic and snobbish language  was unprofessional The report I came up with but never published showed Haber  making it a habit  to blame other reporters ,producers and co-workers every time he got into trouble at previous jobs. Seems he never got along with co-workers due to his enormous ego. When a writer wrote about his bad behavior at the US Open when he worked for ESPN in 1994 Haber claimed then that writer was trying to get him fired.Haber was suspended over an argument with a producer over a tie at the event.Haber it seems never wanted to do  things the way superiors wanted ,including  refusing to wear a cowboy hat at PBR events. After the suspension he accused the producer of trying to get him fired. He was ordered to apologize to the producer but refused. Prior to ESPN he had been released from other contracts in NY.Then it was Fox in Washington,D.C. where his contract was not renewed. Then it was a CBS affiliate in NY where off air behavior  infuriated station heads.Haber then took it upon himself to edit out a section of the Super Bowl piece in 2001 which violated  the editor's union contract and a grievance was filed. Haber was fired in 2002. He was referred to a smart aleck for his comments even then. He then moved to a D.C. morning radio talk show where Internet reports showed conflicts there.OLN hired him in late 2003  where they placed him on the PBR broadcasts .There was no need for that and the fans had loved the team of Justin McKee and Tuff Hedeman.OLN further aggravated fans during the PBR  Finals when they inserted more of their  ivy league reporters into broadcasts.
Haber repeatedly has bragged about his local AFTRA chapter Emmy awards using his Emmys as the reason he was so much better than Justin or even Bob Tallman.Hmmm Bob has made it into the Cowboys Hall of Fame as an announcer-don't see Haber in any equivalent.
When W/CBS fired Haber the Daily News reported: “Haber seemed to struggle to find the right tone for the newscasts. His ESPN-like smart-aleck approach to sports didn’t endear him to many in the newsroom, which may have led to the end of his tenure there.’’
Haber recently took a job as the weeknight sports anchor on the D.C. CBS affiliate which made fans hope he would quit OLN.No such luck till his own mouth  caused him to be fired from OLN. With a track record like Haber's you would think he would have learned by now but apparently he never has learned.
