B.J. Schumacher Wins Round One of The Tuff Hedeman Championship Challenge

It was a night of fast and furious action in Ft Worth as Round One of the Texas Ford Dealers Tuff Hedeman Championship Challenge Presented by Coors Light Event. There were  only 14 qualified rides in the round as the great pen of bulls amassed by CBR President Tuff Hedeman tossed cowboys every which way,
When the dust cleared it was B J Schumacher who won the round aboard Scotty Burris' Tombstone with a 90 point score.BJ earned the the chance to ride the bounty bull Jerry Nelson's World Champion Big Bucks in The Match of Champions for $10,000.Things looked good until 3.5 seconds when Big Bucks zigged when BJ zagged. As BJ lost his balance he caught his spur in the rope and found himself under Big Bucks in a scary predicament. He suffered a possibly broken foot but the Wisconsin rider  cowboyed up and said the injury would not keep him from riding Sunday. This is one heck of a "Tuff" cowboy!
Second in the round was MO's Travis Sellers with 89.5 aboard MC's(Merrick) Back Draft.Half a point behind him came NC's JB Mauney aboard Wes Bruce's Detour.McKennon Wimberley of Cool,Texas was 4th aboard Frontier Rodeo's Society's  Child with 88.5 points and I bet his daddy Joe was happy. Current CBR/PRCA World Champion and one of the nicest guys  riding today,Matt Austin tied for 5/6/7 in the round with 88 points aboard Robertson/Wilson's Renegade.Illinois bull rider  Mike Moore tied with Matt  at 88 after riding Scotty Burris' CowTown. Mexican rider Hugo Pedrero was the third rider in the tie aboard Johnny Hoyle's Scarface.Texas' Howdy Cloud was 8th with 86.5 points aboard Lufkin Ranch and Rodeo's Torque.
All in all it was quite an action filled first round with such great bulls as SB's Del Rio(Dave Samsel-85.5),Lyndall Hurst's Bobby Knight,Kevin Loudamy's Uncle Charlie(dusted World Champion Cody Hancock) and his Silver Select, David Bailey's Smokeless Super Cool( bucked off Ronnie Kitchens),Jerry Nelson's Slobber Knocker( beat Jarrod Ford), and just so many others .
Elsie and Clyde Frost were at the event;and I am sure a certain red head from Albuquerque probably was too-Tuff's wonderful momma, Clarissa Hedeman who is usually accompanied by his sister Mary. Also there were former World Champion Calf Roper Ernie Taylor and Asst. Chief Mike Bailey of the Choctaw Nation.2004 World Champion Steer Wrestler Luke Branquinho was just another of the rodeo world's top guns  at the event.
