PBR's Omaha Event

I missed most of  this event  last weekend because of going to a local bull riding to watch Trey and Tye Allen,Wesley Cryer,Jessie Perez and Ronnie Maness ride.  on Saturday and  missed it on Sunday because we had our own bull riding here at the ranch. I realize the PBR was not on till 11:30 Central  time but  by the time I cleaned up after everyone  it was way past that hour and I was tired.

I did get to watch the Short Go today as once again I missed  most of the event watching my newest bull calf  ( a week old) buck and spin and race around the bottom while chores were being done. With the speed this little guy has if he doesn't make it as a bucker I think I'll break and train him as a barrel racing bull!

I have been to the PBR's Blog and cannot understand why  Justin McKee put Big Bucks performance down so much. I thought from his  blog article that Big Bucks had a terrible trip like  some of the other short go bulls have had lately but he didn't.Any bull can have a bad trip and from the tone of the article it sounded that  way but having watched the replay today I just don't see  it as a bad trip.To me a bad trip is a re ride option ride on a bull that just lopes or goes totally flat or stops, etc. I love Justin to pieces but I have to disagree with him here.

The first rider out for the short go was one of my all time favorites and the favorite of  the Ft Hall Reservation,my Shoshone/Bannock brother  Wiley Petersen who drew  Hot Stuff.Wiley made a great looking ride which I thought should have been scored a little higher but the bull took four long leaps out of the chute before turning back to lower the bull score.Wiley stayed in complete control as Hot Stuff went into a left spin into Wiley's hand after the four leaps  thenreversed right at the very end of the ride.Wiley scored 85 and had 171.25 on two head. I thought the ride should have scored about 88.

Voodoo Child took one leap out then went around to the left  with lots of kick and power to  buck off Guilherme Marchi. The bull score was 45.

Nick Landreneau looked great aboard Cat Man Do who went into a fast spin to the left into Nick's hand.Nick spurred aggressively and remained up on his rope in perfect position. He scored 90.50 and had 177.50 on two head.

I'm A gangster took two out with a quick turn around to the right into Sean Willingham's hand with a belly roll thrown in to set Sean down. The bull score was 44.75.

Ricky Bobby went around to the left in a fast spin with high kicking to buck LJ Jenkins off quickly while Robson Palermo needed to be helped out of the arena after his buck-off .Sir Patrick made quick work of the Brazilian a she made a turn around to the left  into Robson's hand then quickly reversed right .

Gnash got the best of Ednei Caminhas in a wild looking ride around to the left away from Ednei's hand. The bull scored 44.75.

Nervous Waters  got Bryan Richardson off into the well as he  spun  with lots of power, action and kick. G bull and his score reflects that at 46.25.

Luke Snyder  was off of Say I Won't Gunner right out of the chute as the bull went around to the left  and pulled Luke down over his shoulder. The bull score was 45.5.

I can see how Avalanche might have injured his ankle a few weeks ago as that bull is wild in the chute.he reared up and got both front feet in the slide gate.It would be easy to chip an ankle bone that way. Avalanche took two  leaps out with power and had Shane Proctor down. The bull score was 43.50.

Bad Yeller went around to the left away from  Dustin Hall's hand with power ,kick and rear end twist to  buck Dustin off  and earn 44.0.

Kody Lostroh missed a good opportunity to gain ground on Guilherme Marchi as Kody bucked off of California Dreaming who went around to the left with a lot of  speed and kick  to earn 45.50.

I thought Austin Meier's  ride on Big Bucks was better than an 86.75.I would have scored it  about an 88. Austin is only the third rider to score on Big Bucks in his PBR career and it was a good ride as the bull went around to the left into Austin's hand with lots of  high kicks and snap. This was not a bad trip just because he got rode! The bull had a good day but Austin Meier had a better day and catapulted into the lead with 257.25 on three head.

Party Time faked right then made a sharp left into Adriano Moraes' hand with a major belly roll .The bull had Adriano beat around the corner  and Adriano tried to gut the ride out.The bull scored 44.25.

The last ride was the best.Brian Canter has come out of his slump this  event and he made it three for three as he made a great ride aboard Page's Hot Stuff( Mudslinger son) who was around to the left into Brian's hand with kicks way over his head and lots of twist before reversing right. Brian stayed centered  and in complete control throughout  the ride as he earned 92.50 and won the event with 267.50. Congratulations Brain.

On another note, the PBR will again be pre-empted for The Stanley Cup play-offsand Billings  won't be shown until 12:30 ET tonight  and tomorrow.
